The East Van Film Festival is a one-night cinematic rager taking over The Legion on Commercial Drive this October 3rd. Think of it as the punk show of film festivals — rowdy, raw, and ridiculously fun. We’re showcasing the best of the worst (and the worst of the best) in low-budget filmmaking: shorts, docs, comedies, chaos, and everything in between.

Expect $5.50 beers, drag queens, and a whole room full of weirdos cheering on the most passionate filmmakers this city has to offer. No velvet ropes, no industry panels — just films, friends, and a little bit of glitter.

About Us
This beautiful mess is brought to you by the Eastside Sisters, the drag duo who’ve been terrorizing and titillating Vancouver stages for years: Banana Delvey & Miss October. They’re the minds behind the sold-out drag musicals Charli XCX and the Chocolate Factory, Slytherin, Star Wh****: The Darkside, My Little Brony, and Finding Nemo Drag Musical. You might’ve seen them on CBC, or selling out the Junction. Together, they’ve turned broken heels and busted wigs into a full-on movement of DIY, queer, East Van theatre — and now, they’re doing the same for indie film.

This is a 100% INDIE-ONLY festival. That means: no nepo baby films, no fake-indie productions made by a Netflix intern’s cousin, and no big-budget Oscar bait. If your film had a catering budget — you’re probably too fancy. We want your iPhone-shot masterpiece. Your hot mess of a mockumentary. Your late-night fever dream with bad lighting and great heart. No Hollywood egos. No gatekeepers. No VIP section — because here, everyone’s a damn VIP.
